Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is a reliable option when replacing missing teeth.

A bridge is a custom-made permanent replacement for a missing tooth. Crowns are placed on either side of the open space and a pontic (fake tooth) is fabricated between the crowns and fills the open space of the missing tooth.

There are several types of bridges.  You and your dentist will discuss the best options for your particular needs and situation.  The “traditional bridge” is the most popular type and is usually made of porcelain fused to metal for durability and a natural appearance.

Dental bridges are highly durable and will last many years with proper care.

Reasons for Bridges
  • Fill space of missing teeth.
  • Maintain facial shape.
  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position.
  • Restore chewing and speaking ability.
  • Restore your smile.
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance.

What Does the Dental Bridge Procedure Involve?

A dental bridge can be prescribed to fill the space of missing teeth.

The two teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth will be prepared by removing a portion of the tooth structure.

A custom-made bridge will be fabricated and cemented to the prepared teeth.

Dental bridges can last many years with proper care.
